The Software Engineer Reports to: Director of Health Information Management

Position Summary: Under the general supervision of the Director of Health Information Management, The Software Engineer, L1 is part of a technology team which is primarily responsible for translating program specifications into actionable computer code, reporting, and dashboards. This role will further implement the code and resulting software into agency computer and software systems as needed. In addition to conducting testing, and implementing designs by writing computer programs, this position will also update and repair existing programs as required. Help Desk support will be provided as well.

 

Software Engineer's Primary Duties:

- Collaborate with technology department and operational leadership to plan for coding and overall program development.

- Research solutions to coding and performance issues.

- Regularly update IT and programmatic leadership on progress and time estimations to ensure smooth daily operations and accurate planning.

- Translate program performance expectations documents into logical programming sequence and ultimately, into code.

- Perform trial runs in later coding stages and modify any existing and potential issues.

- Document control language for advanced troubleshooting reference documents.

- Advance professional development through active participation in industry organizations, reading programming publications and pursuing educational opportunities.

- Partner with Operational and Programmatic leadership to ensure financial sustainability and fiscal health of programmatic activities

- Participate in strategic planning and business development processes for agency technology and programming.

- Participate in team and operational meetings as required.

- Participate in local, state and national workgroups, task forces and conferences as needed to help promote the Acenda brand

- Create and maintain a high performance environment characterized by positive leadership and a strong team orientation.

- Provide support for, and oversight of, the agency Help Desk activities as required.

- Ensure programs are capturing client demographic and treatment data as required.

- Functions within Acenda's policies and procedures as outlined on agency public documents.

- Operates according to program and agency operations manuals

- Meets communication requirements as defined by position expectations, including appropriate, timely and professional written and verbal communications

- Meets supervision requirements as defined by position expectations, including ensuring staff is receiving appropriate training, coaching and supports.

- Partner as appropriate with other divisions within Acenda and other external programming to ensure holistic care offering to individuals and families served throughout the agency.

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Education & Experience

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Programming

- 0-4 years of experience as programmer or software developer

- High attention to detail

- Persistent and positive attitude

- Full understanding of software fundamentals

- Creative problem solver

- Experience thinking creatively and strategically

- Excellent administrative and organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Excellent writing skills, including experience writing proposals and working with foundations.

- Excellent oral communication skills.

- Expertise and experience monitoring program budgets.

- Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.

Physical Demands (if applicable) Must regularly be able to see, speak and hear. Frequently required to stand, sit, walk, bend, use hands and arms and must occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
